CALLUM'S RACE REVIEW

Qualifying was mixed emotions with my first pole, very special but very difficult at the same time after last week. I'm really happy that we turned all that negative energy from Spa into a positive result, and doing it for Anthoine, for Juan, and for both their families.

Saturday's race was decent points, but it’s also a big shame as we all really wanted a podium. My start was probably the best I have done all season, so that was really pleasing and the pace overall was not too bad. I think trying to keep up with the other guys, maybe they were a little bit too quick for us, and it killed the tyres. We’re not sure if it was down to tyre deg or if the slow puncture I had affected it but we are currently investigating it. It’s my best Feature Race result so far, but it’s definitely mixed emotions as I really wanted that podium.

In the Sprint Race, the tyres were really fragile at the end and one bar of brake pressure was the difference. I wasn’t even going for a move for the lead, I was just showing I was there, and I locked up. A few other drivers had done the same thing. It just shows how easy it is to make a mistake. It’s a bitter end to a really good race. We were at least able to show strong pace all weekend but unfortunately, we didn't get the results we wanted in the end.
