Britain’s Callum Ilott gets his 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship campaign underway in Qatar on Saturday (2 Mar).
The former Alfa Romeo Racing Orlen Formula 1 reserve driver will make his debut for British squad Hertz Team JOTA, racing a Porsche 963 Hypercar for the very first time in the near 1,200-mile, 10 hour race.
Ilott, who undertook a test with the Arrow McLaren IndyCar team at Homestead last week (21 Feb), shares driving duties of the #12 Porsche with Will Stevens (GB) and Norman Nato (F).
Callum clocked his first miles in the Porsche around the 3.37-mile Losail International Circuit located north of Doha, earlier this year in a two-day test and again earlier this week (Monday/Tuesday).
Qualifying for the 37-car, multi-class grid – which includes a record 14 car manufacturers – is on Friday with the opening WEC race of the season starting at 8am (UK time) on Saturday.
