PARTNERS

The world of motorsort is all about partnerships.  On many levels….between drivers and their engineers, the teams and their engine manufacturers, drivers and sponsors and so it goes on.  I am lucky enough to have support from a small number of partners, in different ways.  If you would like to join me on my rollercoaster ride, then get in touch by emailing me at callum@callumilott.com.  Here are just a few words about the relationships I have had in my career of great personal value to me, as I couldn’t have done it quite this way, without these people…

Ferrari Driver Academy

I am delighted to have been selected by Ferrari to be part of its Driver Academy.  Ferrari’s programme is a game changer in the industry on driver development, and it is truly a privilege to become a part of it.  Developing my potential fully as a young driver is the key to a successful path in motorsport for me, and it’s fantastic to have the support from Scuderia Ferrari for my career from here.

I have always loved the Ferrari brand ever since I was a kid so to become a part of the Ferrari and FDA is amazing.  I am in no doubt that this is the team that will help me fully develop and progress as a driver.  The focus and enthusiasm from Massimo, head of the FDA and his team is second to none, and I’m really looking forward to working hard with them to be the best driver I can.

I am massively excited to be a part of Ferrari, which for me is the ultimate race team for any racing driver.  Together with the FDA, we made the decision to do GP3 with ART Grand Prix for 2018 and I’m really happy with this as the first step in our partnership.

Adrian Flux

I am delighted to have Adrian Flux with me as a partner and sponsor.  For the past 40 years, Adrian Flux have provided individual and specialist motor insurance dedicated to the specific needs of drivers and motorsport fanatics like me.  From the motor racing, the prestige and classic vehicle sector, through to kit cars, their knowledgeable staff are capable of providing a very personal and tailor made approach to insurance, making them one of the most highly respected insurance specialists in the UK.  I am excited about our partnership and happy to be representing the Adrian Flux brand going forward.

Alpinestars

Alpinestars has supported me for the last few years since my early days in international karting in Italy. It has seen me through the end of my karting career into the beginning of my car career.

Right from the outset, the company's vision and desire was to continually introduce innovative products that took performance to new and higher levels, and it continues to do this today.

I have been lucky enough to have had several bespoke designed suits from Alpinestars and their team continue to help me define the look of my own style with their innovative work.

BRDC SuperStars

I am pleased to have been selected to join the British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC) SuperStars driver development programme for 2017.  The SuperStars programme, now in its tenth year, has been instrumental in supporting over sixty drivers including Renault F1’s Jolyon Palmer, GT star Jonny Adam and British Touring Car champion Andrew Jordan to acquire the multifaceted skills required of today’s professional driver. The BRDC has a long track record in training young British drivers, helping to round out their off track skills, and so having their support and resources available this year is fantastic.  Moving up to SuperStars is a great recognition of the progress I made in 2016 and I’m appreciative of the BRDC’s decision to select me.

ART Grand Prix

ART is a very professional team with a proven track record in GP3 and I am hugely excited to start working with them.  To be selected by ART for one of its much coveted seats is a real privilege.  They are a powerhouse in both GP3 and F2 and motorsport in general, with vast experience collectively across many categories.   I am really looking forward to a new car, new tracks and new challenges and showing ART what I can do.

My Image

My thanks go to Mike Fairholme of Mike Fairholme Designs, who started off my helmet design 2009, with the support of Arai helmets.

Mike established his business in 1984 with the aim of providing the finest bespoke helmet design and paintwork service and over the course of more than twenty years he has created many amazing helmets have been created for a huge variety of people, including many racing stars.  For example, Allan McNish and David Coulthard to name but two, with Allan being with him since his karting days.

My helmet design journey with Mike began six years ago at the age of 11 when we designed my first helmet for the international karting circuit.  Mike's design became my distinctive signature, a theme that we then built on for my race suits and accessories with Alpine Stars, and my individual go-kart colour livery based around the Chiesa Corse Zanardi race team.

PREMA Powerteam

PREMA Racing was founded in 1983 by Angelo Rosin and Giorgio Piccolo. And was transformed in 1994 into PREMA Powerteam with increased activities at an international level.  PREMA is now one of Europe's leading international racing teams.   It is in fact the third largest Italian racing team (after F1 Teams: Ferrari and Toro Rosso) based on the team's size, dominance and Championships in which it participates.

Since its foundation it has favoured the inclusion of young drivers, focusing on developing and enhancing their talents and skills in order to help them reach the highest echelons of the sport.

PREMA’s strong Italian roots and family-oriented business appeals hugely to me – it’s what I have grown up with since my early days karting with Dino Chiesa in Italy.  A strong heritage and team member loyalty, combined with a supreme focus to deliver the best, is a potent combination.  The other great thing about PREMA for me, is that it’s brilliance lies not just in it's consistent winning set up of its racing machinery; but also it’s goal -  to deliver the complete training of each driver.

Van Amersfoort Racing

Founded in 1975, Dutch team Van Amersfoort Racing (VAR) has won many national and international championships and is one of the most successful racing outfits in the Netherlands.  VAR finished 3rd in the 2014 F3 Championship with current F1 driver Max Verstappen and 4th in the 2015 F3 Championship with Scuderia Ferrari development driver Charles Leclerc.  Joining me in the team for the 2016 season were Anthoine Hubert, Pedro Piquet, son of F1 world champion Nelson Piquet and Harrison Newey, son of Red Bull F1 chief technical officer Adrian Newey.

Teaming up with VAR and Mercedes engines for 2016 was an ideal move to continue my development and gain new experiences. VAR is a well supported team and we shared the same motivation.  It has come close to winning the F3 Championship in previous years and was pushing very hard to improve in the face of strong competition.  Whilst we didn't ultimately deliver the consistency as a team required to win the European championship, our partnership in 2016 resulted in me getting my first race wins, being the youngest driver on the grid to achieve multiple wins and pole positions, and of course my strong finish at the FIA F3 World Cup.

Carlin Motorsports

My move to VAR for 2016, was with the benefit of having driven a competitive first season in single-seater cars with Carlin Motorsport.  Carlin are one of the largest motorsport teams outside of Formula 1 with race winning experience.  Carlin and I were thrown a challenge in 2015 from Dr Marko at Red Bull to make the transition from karting to cars in an F3 rather than competing in a less challenging race category.  With the help and expertise of the team around me at Carlin, I successfully managed the transition to single seaters by finishing 12th overall in a field of 35 experienced drivers.  I drove as part of a team of six drivers - Antonio Giovanazzi, Gustavo Menezes, George Russell, Ryan Tveter and Tatiana Calderon were my teammates.  Not only was I the only driver classified as a finisher in all 33 races of the championship, but I brought home 65.5 points, a series of rookie trophies and had my maiden podium at my favourite track, the Nürburgring.

Red Bull Junior Team

The Red Bull Junior Team is a driver development and support program overseen by Dr Helmut Marko on behalf of Red Bull. I will always be grateful to Dr Marko for his ability to see my talent, back my first season and push me to go straight from karts to F3.  To be part of the Red Bull Family in 2015 has been a privilege and given me a challenging but exciting introduction to racing. For me, my first year in car racing was all about learning, pushing for the best results and doing the best job I could to learn quickly to deliver the level of performance Red Bull expect from all their drivers - rookie or otherwise.  I was the first driver Red Bull selected to move straight from karts to F3, and it was a great learning experience.

Strakka Racing

Strakka Racing has evolved to become one of the most respected and successful teams in the World Endurance Championship.

Within three years of its formation, Strakka won the Le Mans 24 Hours LMP2 setting five new event records.  Since then it has gone from strength to strength to include a string of podiums and broaden its racing interests to even include a karting partnership with my chassis manufacturer Zanardi, in 2014.   With Strakka's support of Zanardi Strakka Racing, I was able to reach my goal that year and become 2014 European KF Champion.   I then went on to do my first full car test with Strakka in a Formula Renault 2.0. I have been lucky enough to get a glimpse of the family that is Strakka Racing and I continue to admire its work and team culture.  In 2015, I tested Formula Renault 3.5 with Strakka Racing.

Oli Oakes, Dino Chiesa and Zanardi

I have grown up through international karting under the guidance of Oli Oakes, Dino Chiesa and using the Zanardi kart chassis.  Dino sent a Zanardi chassis to England for me to test when I had just turned 12 and I had my first international KF3 race 6 months later at Genk.  I stayed on the Zanardi chassis for all four years, enjoying many championship victories with Oli and Dino's support in both KF(2) senior and KFJ(3) junior classes.
