CALLUM'S RACE REVIEW
"In qualifying, I was happy with my lap but I hit the rev limiter on the run out of Copse so lost some time there, but overall P6 was a good starting place.
The pace was quite good in the Feature Race and I think we did a decent job – effectively maintaining our position. Unfortunately, we lost out a bit because of our position in the pit lane. We entered after ART and Carlin – the two teams we were battling in the race – and we had to wait for them to pass to avoid an unsafe release. Ultimately we focused on P8 to opt for more points in the bag and pole position at my home race which was pretty special.
At the start of the Sprint Race, I initially got a good getaway but was a little too optimistic with the throttle as the car bounced off the line and I got some wheelspin. I successfully held off Latifi on lap one and then after a tricky first few laps, I found we had a lot of pace. I was on the tail of Nyck de Vries for the remainder of the race, using the tight technical sections under braking to easily catch him, but we didn’t have enough straight line pace to pass him cleanly.
In the end, although I would have loved a home podium, it’s still good points, we know the pace is strong and we improved on what we needed to from yesterday's race."
